DATELINE: THE SHOT HEARD
FROM THE SOUTH
After over 20 years of running the
McCarty Metro, a possible hostile take-over may be in the works. Former Metro
editor and Detroit News Boy, Larry McCarty has been reported as making
overtures to several of the current writers to see if they would continue if
he took over. When contacted by Metro reporters, Larry replied
"That's Ludicrous", but added that he was not that thrilled with the
comic strip "Nashville" that has run a few times this past year, and
maybe Brad Savage's next "Final Thought" should be... "I'M
RETIRED"!
The Metro has it's
investigation team on this, and here is what they uncovered....
Happy Hair Productions,
which released their hit movie "Pizza" earlier this year, is
making a move to corner the newspaper market. It has recently acquired
several southern publications, including The
Brookfield Bugle, The Staggs Sentinel, and The Deakins Daily. All have been
become part of the Happy Hair family. One of Happy Hair's former
actors and current executive is none other than Larry McCarty (seen to
the right chasing snooping Metro reporters off his proptee.
Larry has also been
linked to several "business" trips this past year, from New York to San Francisco. Over the summer, Larry and Gina
did an
extensive tour of Michigan, and even had some meetings at the original Metro
HQ on Sussex to quote "retrieve some carbon paper". |

with his trusty Rawlings bat.
|
In addition to his previous acquisitions,
and several trips in the northern states, Larry has also been linked to
talking to several Metro employees still under contract including Jerry
McCarty, Mike McCarty, the ghost of Bob Hope, and others. Although most do not want to talk
about it (in case the take-over happens), our investigative team shares this exclusive video of one
member that
isn't afraid to talk. Click
here for this exclusive video.
|
To also add credence to the
rumor of a takeover at the Metro is the fact that Mom McCarty received a
proto-type newspaper sent from Larry about the year in review, McCarty news (photo to the left). In it were news
stories and photos that legally, as a reporter and employee of the McCarty Metro, Larry was supposed to furnish to the
editor, but
elected not to. Also in his newspaper, was a photo taken by none other than
the current Metro editor,
Kelly McCarty who would stand to lose the most in a hostile take-over.
Larry sat down with
Kelly in a
Las Vegas meeting, but the only common ground the 2 could find
was to put $100 on black, and to hit a soft 17 when the dealer shows a
queen. |
The Metro will continue to
follow this story, and Larry's car for further updates to this story.
DATELINE: MC HAPPENINGS -
ON THE MEND
Cousin Pat reports that Metro subscriber
and McCarty cousin Barbara G. was hospitalized this past month after being
cancer free for 4 years. The Metro has not learned anything more at this time,
however, we know with Barbara's determination and energy, we are praying for a
complete recovery.
Mom Mc was also hospitalized in
January. After a 5 day admission, she is back home in her apartment. Although
she will continue to visit the hospital for out-patient tests, she is doing
much better.
DATELINE: VEGAS BABY,
VEGAS
The 8th annual VBV took place
in January. Although we can report that everyone had a great time, the McCarty
Metro is not going to report further by the covenant of "What happens in
Vegas, stays in Vegas" law.

DATELINE: NFL PIGSKIN
PICKEM
As of press time, the Super
Bowl winner has yet to be determined, as well as The McCarty Metro's
inaugural NFL Pigskin Pickem Champion. While the New York Giants and the
New England Patriots will battle it out for the Vince Lombardi Trophy as
kings of the NFL, our Metro readers are battling for something more
important. Twenty Six players have entered the contest, while 16 made the
playoffs.
Lance Devous led the
pack most of the first half of the season until Cmac overtook him and
led the field most of the second half. With a late push, Jdaman
entered the playoffs as the #1 seed, and has held that position
throughout. |
|
Going into the Super Bowl,
there are 20 points available, and with only 7 points separating Jdaman with
the next 9 contenders, the championship is totally up for grabs. Don't forget
to get your picks in before 6pm on February 5 to be eligible.

There are various theories on the origin of Valentine's Day, but the most popular dates back to the time of the Roman Empire during the reign of Claudius II, 270 AD. Claudius didn't want men to marry during wartime because he believed single men made better soldiers. Bishop Valentine went against his wishes and performed secret wedding ceremonies. For this, Valentine was jailed and then executed by order of the Emperor on February 14. While in jail, he wrote a love note to the jailor's daughter signing it, "From your Valentine." Sound familiar?

DATELINE: METRO TRIPS
Margaret and Austin McCarty took 2 nice
trips in December. Early in the month, the 2 flew to New York City with
Marianne Rzepka to get in the holiday spirit. They visited many sites, and
Austin enjoyed the Big Apple night life. On Christmas Day, the two flew out to
Oregon, to visit with Chris, Amanda, and Alexa, as well as to ring in the New
Year.

Last summer my girlfriend raced in Nascar on the Nashville Speedway, Hot Air Ballooned, and Zip Lined. What is another adventurous activity we can do this year?
Larz
ED NOTE: If
you are looking for something adventurous to do together, then
might I suggest a walk down the aisle? No, not a wedding,
rather, your local Rite Aid Pharmacy aisle. if you plan on
joining her for the next adventure, Larry, you are going to need
to stock up on Ben Gay, Motrin, and pain killers for yourself so
you can keep up! |
