JULY GAME
o' THE MONTH - RUNNING BASES (PICKLE)
The rules of the game are
pretty simple. You'll need two bases, (we just use the lines in the
sidewalk, a rubber ball and two baseball gloves (if you don't have the
gloves just use a ball that's not "hard."
Set up the two bases about
20 feet apart. Two kids are selected to be "it", one at each
base. The other kids divide up and go to the bases. The game started by
the two kids who are "it" tossing the ball to each other. The
object of the game is to time running from one base to the other without
being tagged by the ball. If you are tagged then you are now
"it" and the game continues, usually until all the kids are too
tired to run anymore. The fun of the game is getting the person who is
"it" to throw a wide pitch or "steal" the base.

Kids... Grab a
calculator and do this problem. When you get your answer, turn
your calculator upside down for the real answer.
When I was a kid,
during the summer, we went to Stoney Creek Beach. I would swim and
look for 115469 X 5.
Another way to get wet while at home would be to turn on the 10512
/ 3. Other things we did as a family would be to
find a good park and run down 27714 +
30000. Two things to always remember while doing
this is to always wear 53000 + 45
and watch out for 6042-704.

Using the template as a guide, cut the white paper to a 7" square.
Cut a star shape out of a household sponge.
Squeeze blue paint onto a palette or paper plate. Dip sponge into paint, dab off excess, and press onto paper. Repeat design in several places. Clean out the sponge and repeat with red paint.
(See photo)
Use a gold paint pen to draw dots and curly lines on the paper to decorate it further. Let dry then turn over and decorate the other side.
(See photo)
Use a ruler and a pencil to lightly mark the paper according to the template. Cut diagonal lines toward the center, using the template as a guide.
(See photo)
Use the pencil to poke holes in the paper where indicated on the template.
Insert the thumbtack into the wooden dowel to create a hole. Remove thumbtack.
Fold one of the corners (with a hole) toward the center of the paper. Insert the thumbtack through the hole.
Bring the next corner up and under the first one, inserting the thumbtack. Repeat for all four then push the thumbtack through the center hole.
(See photo)
Holding the tack and the paper together with one hand, turn over and slide the pony bead onto the thumbtack, then insert the thumbtack into the dowel. This will add space between the paper pinwheel and the dowel.

AUNTIE
MARGARET SEZ: Kids can make your own patriotic paper into a darling pinwheel using paint and a homemade sponge stamp!
You can also use a new pencil with an eraser instead of the dowel.
