DATELINE: VEGAS, BABY,
VEGAS
The McCarty brothers annual trek to Las
Vegas took place from January 13-17. Attending were Jerry, Kelly,
Steve, Rick, Larry, and pal (brotha) Robert on the trip. The guys did a
pod cast from Rick's Martini Bar, and played lots and lots of
Mississippi Stud, Let It Ride, Black Jack, Craps, and Roulette. A
great time was had by all. The best moment on the entire trip was.....
GOTCHA!!! Whatever happened in Vegas MUST stay in Vegas.
I believe it is a law or something like that. And one thing I
learned while out there... Did you know they have shows in
Vegas???

SOUTHERN
HOSPITALITY
Hil Lynch stayed with
Larry and Gina as she traveled down south to
Florida. While in Nashville, the three of
them enjoyed oysters at "The
Southern" restaurant, dinner at Acme
Feed & Seed, and finished up with a wonderful
dessert at the piano bar at Maggiano's. All had a
great time.

MICHIGAN
Metro
readers, don't forget, Groundhog Day is Feb. 2 and Mardi Gras
(Fat Tuesday) is just one week later on February 9. These two days are
unusually close this year due to the very early Lent -- yes, Ash
Wednesday is February 10. Remember the legends: A) If a groundhog sees
its shadow, that means six more weeks of winter. B) If you can't
see your entire shadow late on Fat Tuesday, that means six weeks
of dieting.

DATELINE: CARIBBEAN SEA
Kelly & Margaret
took a Royal Caribbean cruise in January to celebrate Margaret's
birthday. The couple flew down to Tampa on New Year's Day, and
spent the night. The next morning, they went to the docks, and
boarded the Brilliance Of The Seas oceanliner. It was a 5 day
cruise, with stops in Costa Maya, Mexico, and Cozumel, Mexico. It
was a great time on board. They dined nightly with the Ellis
family from Indiana. The 5 quickly became good friends, and along
with the fabulous food, dinner time was a nightly highlight. The
shows on board were wonderful, and the weather off board (although
there were a few drops of rain here and there) cooperated.

DATELINE: WINTER STORM JONAS
Winter storm Jonas
hit the U.S. with a vengeance, dumping several feet of snow in
it's path. Here are some of the Metro subscribers documented this
devastating weather phenomenon. Who do you think had it worse...

Early
in December, an old Granny told her neighbor "I'm
thinking that all of my kids and grandkids will visit me
over the holidays". The
neighbor responded "Why would you think that -- they
never come to see you"... But sure enough, throughout
the holidays Granny had cars in her driveway every day
with visitors galore.
Curious,
the neighbor asked... "What did you say to get them
to come over?"
Granny responded "I didn't say a word.
I just mailed them all checks, but didn't sign any
of them." |

DATELINE: WASHINGTON, DC
In an effort to overcome the continuing criticism that he is unsupportive and, in fact, dismissive of Israel, today President Obama announced that he is converting to Judaism in the hope that this will demonstrate his affinity to and empathy with the Israeli people. Authorities have been unable to handle the millions of applicants who have volunteered to perform the circumcision.
Dear Editor:
I've entered the McCarty Metro Biggest Loser competition
and have a problem with the tips being offered.
"Remove all unhealthy snacks from the house."
I spent 2-weeks eating all the cookies, chips, and
washing it down with SoCo. I haven't bought any more,
yet I've gained 10 pounds. What gives? -Still Chubby
after all these years
ED
NOTE: Your reading too much into the tips. For
example, the seafood diet DOES NOT mean, if you see
food, you can eat it. Also, please remember that the
older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because
by then, your body and your fat are really good friends.
Good Luck Chubs...

Dear Editor: I just finished reading
the Christmas poem from the latest issue of the McCarty Metro.
I found it quite entertaining to say the least. I was
wondering if it would be possible to republish the
"family picture" and add name tags to the
snowmen. Is Baby Steve just a small single snowball on the
ground or is he hiding in the back in Mom's arms? -Snowbody

NOTE: I think you can see Steve in my Dad's snow balls |

Dear
Editor: Did you know Feb. 28 is National Tooth Fairy Day? Eight McCarty brothers got plenty of visits from the Tooth Fairy, most of them after Dad said, "Let me just take a look at your loose tooth." How much does a McCarty grandkid or great-grandkid get from the Tooth Fairy these days?
-- Descendant of Dr. Coots, above Mac-O-Lac Paint Store, Detroit,
Michigan
ED
NOTE: Let's see... I got a quarter when I lost a tooth. My brother
Larry funded his entire paper route with his teeth. My answer is
if the McCarty grandkids or great grandkids are reading this, I
think 100 bucks per tooth should be about right...
