This
month, it’s a bluegrass jam favorite! Check out a jam I spotted
on YouTube. I’m getting “Blackberry Blossom” in shape on my
banjo. And I took my guitar recently to a traditional Irish jam,
and, yes, “Blackberry Blossom” popped up there, too! It’s an
addictive (in a good way) instrumental!
I
can’t seem to find out how old this song is, but one story
circulating on the Web is that Civil War General James Garfield
heard a soldier playing his favorite ditty on a harmonica. The
president-to-be couldn’t remember the name, and spat some
tobacco juice onto a blackberry bush and … there you go.
