final thought this month..

Hello Metro family and friends! I
hope your summer is going well.
Although I am
still recovering from my reverse shoulder replacement surgery I
had in April, Margaret and I did get a chance to do a little
traveling. We had a wonderful visit out to Oregon and spending
time with Chris, Amanda, and our grandkids. We got to see Alexa
dance beautifully in her recital, and also got to see Cooper
compete in the Bend All-Star Baseball Classic. Central Oregon is
so beautiful, and it rekindles my love for that area every time
we travel out there. If you haven't visited that part of the
country, I would strongly recommend it. Bend especially with the
Old Mill district and downtown is like stepping back in time.
The summer weather (being high desert) is great with plenty of
sun and no humidity.

What's new
in this edition??? After a year break, the McCarty Metro
Film Project is back on from July 1-31. I hope you can
find some time to put together a 4 minute or less video
and submit it. We also have a photo challenge in this
issue. Your job is to find an old photo, and recreate it
with the same people today. Both the movie and the photo
challenge should be lots of fun to do with your family and
friends. I can't wait to see what is submitted.
I would like to offer congratulations to my niece Jenna, who graduated with honors from Stony Creek High School. She plans to go to Grand Valley State in the fall. Jenna, I wish you all the best in your future
endeavors.
Finally, as a subscriber, be sure to keep an eye out for email updates over the next couple months about our new season of the NFL Pigskin Pickem Game. If you are reading this and are not a subscriber, or if you know someone who might enjoy what we do here at the McCarty Metro, or sign them up to receive updates as a free
subscriber.

The final thought
I would like to leave you is a true story about how having a
quick meal at McDonalds turned into a very inspiring moment for
one young girl. I hope you enjoy it!
.
THANK
YOU!
.
As
we were eating at McDonalds this evening, my baby
saw this Army Soldier and as he was walking in she
said thank you for your service and he didn’t
hear her.
When
he walked back out with his order, she was shy, so
I said sir I don’t think you heard her a minute
ago but she said thank you for your service! He
said thank you and he appreciated it so he walked
to his vehicle and got in.
Then
he got out of his vehicle and walked up to Macie
and said can you hold on to something for me and
he pointed to his right arm at the US and told
Macie to take it off and hang on to it! Y’all
talking about chills and tears!
I
try and teach my kids to when they see a man or
woman in uniform to thank them!

Thank
you to all of the heroes who serve our country
proudly.
And here's
to teaching your kids when they see a man
or woman in uniform, to thank them!
