In
early February, Mike and Karen left the cold and snow
behind for a week in the Caribbean sun. They stayed at a
St. Thomas VRBO called Heavenly Harmony. A travel friend
drove the narrow, twisting roads with hairpin turns. Along
the way the travelers admired the views, had a seaside
lunch in Red Hook, went snorkeling at Lindquist Beach, saw
dolphins doing tricks and other sea life at Coral World,
shopped in the USVI capital, Charlotte Amalie, took a
daytrip to St. John, and more. And no one messed with the
iguanas. Then it was back to the Hudsonville cold.
DATELINE: GULL LAKE XXXVIII
The 38th
annual Gull Lake Invitational is once again scheduled to be
played. With the border with Canada back open, we expect our
Canadian friends back in the field. Because of the
increasing age of the competitors, and several ailments, the
actual amount of single play golf has been drastically
reduced. In the original years, the guys played 72 holes of
singles competition. but co-commissioner Mike Wiacek reports
that Wednesday they're only playing 18 holes with a later
tee time, and there will be more scrambles vs. singles golf
over the three day event. Here's to good weather, good
scores, good times, and keeping your heads down.

Mia McCarty planned to take a week off from middle school basketball after a doctor removed a screw from her healed right femur on Feb. 22. In the photo, Dad Ryan holds the screw after it was removed because it was bothering her knee. The screw was inserted after Mia broke both legs when a dead tree fell on her May 29, 2020. She has made a full recovery in both legs.

her daily life. Let's Party currently has 18

An Irishman walks into
a bar and asks for two beers. He then pulls a small
green-skinned man out of his pocket and puts him on
the counter. .
As he’s drinking one
drink and the green man is drinking the other, an
Englishman down the bar who has had a few too many
drinks says, “Hey, what’s that little green thing
down there?” .
The green man runs down
the bar gives the Englishman a raspberry, “SPLBLBLBLT!,”
right in the face and runs back to the Irishman.

himself off and says to the Irishman, “Hey, what is
that thing, anyway?”

“Have some respect. He’s a leprechaun.”

leprechaun sure is an ugly little bastard!” he says.

down the bar and gives the Englishman a raspberry
again, “SPLBLBLBLBT!”

This time the
Englishman is really mad! “Tell that leprechaun that
if he does that again I’ll Chop his willie right
off, I will!” he shouts.

that,” says the Irishman. “Leprechauns don’t
have willies.”

then?” asks the Englishman.

“They don’t,”
says the Irishman. “They go SPLBLBLBLBT.”

Super Bowl LVI is now in
the record books. Congrats to Matt Stafford and the LA
Rams on their 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Also, congratulations to Globile Man, who scored an
impressive 160 out of 200 points in the Super Bowl game to
become our 2022 McCarty Metro NFL Pigskin Pickem champion.

Way To Boil Easter Eggs On The Stovetop
There are two egg-related questions that come up all the time: What came first, the chicken or the
egg, and do you start with boiling water or do you start with cold water when you boil eggs?
We recommend
you start with cold water. Why? Because this prevents overcooking the eggs. You'll never have to deal with dry, chalky, overcooked eggs with weirdly greenish yolks again. Nothing but beautiful bright yellow yolks and amazing texture for you! So good, you'll want to eat them with just a sprinkle of salt.
Three Steps to Perfect Hard Boiled or Soft Boiled Eggs:
1. Place eggs in a saucepan or pot and cover with cold water.
Eggs first, then water. Why? Because if you put the eggs in afterward, they might crack as they fall to the bottom of the pan. It's no fun to learn this the hard way.
2. Put pan over high heat and bring water to a rolling boil. Remove pan from heat and cover.
How long does it take to boil an egg? Well, actually, you want the water to come just to a boil but not stay there. Eggs exposed to high heat for a long time go through a chemical reaction that turns the yolks green. So the answer to "How long do you boil hard boiled eggs?" is: pretty much not at all. Because the eggs cook in water that's not actually boiling, some people use the term "hard-cooked" instead of "hard-boiled" eggs.
3. Drain eggs immediately and put in a bowl filled with water and ice cubes.
Why ice water? It cools the eggs down and prevents the green yolk problem. (Chilled water isn't cold enough - you want cold water with lots of ice cubes floating in it.) If you're planning to peel the eggs, crack them slightly before putting them in the ice water and let them sit for an hour for maximum ease of peeling.
How
Long Should The Eggs Cook?
Let the eggs stand in the hot water for 4 to 12 minutes, depending on how firm or set you want the yolks to be.
Why the time range? The longer the eggs sit in hot water the more cooked the yolk will be: figure less time for soft boiled eggs and longer time for hard boiled eggs. Use these time guidelines for large eggs:

For the second straight year, there was a team with an unfair home field advantage in the big game.
