DATELINE: THE
DEAL STILL STANDS...
If you have read my story in previous issues of the
McCarty Metro ("Gene's
Story - DNA finds a new McCarty",
and "Gene's
Story - Continued"), you’ll know that I am still trying to determine who my biological father is/was. I have definitely confirmed that I have a half-sister and a half-brother still living in Michigan. In fact, my half-sister spent two weeks visiting me here in Connecticut. We had a wonderful time and I learned a lot about my biological mother while my half-sister was here. As it relates to the McCarty side, so far, I have been able to confirm that I am a first cousin to both Jerry McCarty and Kathleen Unti, since they too took the same Ancestry DNA Test that I did. I even teased Jerry that I was more Irish than he was because my genetic heritage was one percentage point higher than his when comparing Irish
descent.
At the present, I am currently awaiting the results of a research request that I submitted to the Third Judicial Circuit Court in Detroit. I was referred to them by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Central Adoption Registry after my search at the State level proved unsuccessful. They indicated to me that because my adoption was considered to be “private” or prearranged that any records related to the adoption would be held locally instead of with the State of Michigan. I have yet to hear back from the Third District Circuit Court, but I expect to hear from them shortly.
Well, this brief recap leads me back to the title of my article, “The Deal Still Stands.” You may recall that I previously made an offer to pay for the first four (4) DNA tests for anyone of the remaining first cousins; of which, I’ve been told that there are something like 58 first cousins still out there. If you find this interesting and would like to get a test done for free, please send your request in care of the
McCarty Metro and I will be happy to arrange for the purchase of a DNA Kit for you. The search and the saga continues.

DATELINE: BIGGEST
LOSER 2018
The 2018
McCarty Metro Biggest Loser Challenge has completed! Just
before the first of the year, I put out a challenge on the
Metro to find others who could help me and each other lose
weight and become more healthy in 2018. 13 subscribers
signed up for the challenge, and after 5 months, 8
subscribers completed it. The journey from January 1 -
June 1, was to eat and live healthier, do periodic weigh
ins, and to share results and tips with the other
challengers to help them in their goals.
The 8 who
saw it all the way through lost a total of 81 pounds,
which averages out to 10 pounds a person. I just want to
thank everyone and tell them they did a great job.

DATELINE: BEND,
OREGON
During
the month of June, Margaret and I traveled across the
country to Oregon to visit with Chris, Amanda, Alexa and
Cooper. We flew into Portland and then rented a car and
started our adventure to Bend. On the way, we stopped at
the Portland Duluth Trading store and Craft Warehouse.
We also stopped at the Vista House for scenic views of
the Columbia River. We also wanted to go to Multnomah
Falls, but the road was closed so we continued on to
Bend. Once in Bend, we had a blast. The kids were just
out of school, so we went to a lot of playgrounds, the
pool, the library, and on several adventures, including
Tumalo Falls, the lava tube caves, and an alpaca farm
where we got to feed the alpacas, along with Grandma
Melinda. We also got to hang with the other
grandparents, and even had a jam night with Papi Barry.
The highlight for me was Alexa's big dance recital where
she absolutely killed it. She was so good, and we were
all so proud. We also got treated to ice cream
afterwards. At the end of our trip, on the way back to
Portland, we DID stop at Multnomah Falls, and I was able
to steal a kiss on the Columbia River from m'lady. We
are looking forward for their trip to Michigan in July.

Dear Editor:
Since moving into our new home, I have found three golf balls -- two of them Callaways! When I find them, I get a rush, I imagine much the same that my brother Dan felt when finding a pop can or bottle. What is the anatomical explanation of this feeling? -GR
ED
NOTE: This was best put by a Disney Studio executive
when after reading Jerry McCarty's Archie musical script,
and saying that there were two things wrong with
it... First... It is about high school, and
second... it is a musical. Fast forward one year, and
Disney put out High School Musical. I believe the
anatomical explanation of this was 'Finders Keepers Losers
Weepers!
. Dear Editor: My name is Jean and I’m a writer at Jen Reviews. I was doing research on eggs and just finished reading your wonderful post at

. In that article, I noticed that you cited a solid post that I’ve read in the past:http://www.aeb.org.
I just finished writing a guide that is even more detailed, updated and comprehensive on 11 health benefits of eggs according to science. It is more than 7,000 words and includes 12 delicious egg recipes. You can find it here:https://www.jenreviews.com/eggs.
If you like the guide we’d be humbled if you cited us in your article. Of course, we will also share your article with our 50k newsletter subscribers and followers across our social platforms. Either way, keep up the great work! Warmly, -Jean

Dear
Editor: I
hadn't golfed in about a year, so tonight I thought I would
try the driving range at the golf course I moved to. You had
to go to a machine to get your range balls, and I did almost
everything right. I put in $3 for 34 balls, pressed the
"small" button, but I didn't realize you first had
to put an empty bucket at the bottom. I tell ya, balls came
out of there like a slot-machine jackpot in Vegas. By the
time I picked 'em all up, I only found 33. Oh, well. I did
get a couple good hits. -Mike
ED NOTE: A
note to my brothers... Please chime in on this. Maybe
schedule an intervention? All's I can say about this is

DATELINE: MID TERM
ELECTIONS
In an
attempt to bounce back in the mid-term elections,
democrats are still trying to figure out just how they
lost the Presidential election in 2016. Was it the Russian Uranium Deal? Was it
Wikileaks? Was it Podesta? Was it Comey? Was it having a sexual predator as a husband? Was it Huma Abedin’s sexual predator husband Anthony Weiner? Was it because the Clinton Foundation ripped off Haiti? Was it subpoena violations? Was it the congressional testimony lies? Was it the corrupt Clinton Foundation? Was it the Benghazi fiasco? Was it pay for play? Was it being recorded laughing because she got a child rapist off when she was an attorney? Was it the Travel Gate scandal? Was it the Whitewater scandal? Was it the Cattle Gate scandal? Was it the Trooper-Gate scandal? OR…. Was it the $15 million for Chelsea’s apartment bought with foundation money? Or her husband’s interference with Loretta Lynch & the investigation? Or happily accepting the stolen debate questions given to her? Or her own secret server in her house and disdain for classified information? Or deleting 30,000 emails? Or having cell phones destroyed with hammers? Was it the Seth Rich murder? Was it the Vince Foster murder? Was it the Gennifer Flowers assault & settlement? Was it the $800,000 Paula Jones settlement? Was it calling half the United States deplorable? Was it the underhanded treatment of Bernie Sanders? Was it Bill’s impeachment? Was it the lie about being under sniper fire in Bosnia? Was it the $10 million she got for the pardon of Marc Rich? Or the $6 BILLION she “lost” when in charge of the State Dept.?
Gee...
No one can seem to put their finger on it!
