Hello
everyone. Spring has sprung at the Metro, and I hope
everything is going well for you and yours'.
I want to
make sure everyone marks their calendar. Our 6th annual McCarty Metro Film Project
is coming up from July 3-9. I hope everyone considers shooting a movie, and make this the best one ever.
I also hope you
all consider making a donation in the fight against cancer
this month. There is a link to do so in purple at the bottom of every
page this month on the McCarty Metro. Sure...
the Cockroach CD is pretty cool gift (thanks Steve), but I
am pleading with you to help this cause as we have to find a cure for this
disease. Jerry is fighting his ass off, and I have full
confidence he will win the battle, but anything we can do
to help our friend in this battle must be done. Not only
is Jerry my brother, but he is also my friend. He
brightens my and everyone's day who knows him. Please be
as generous as you can with your donation, and I thank you
for your support!
There
is a new addition to the McCarty clan. My
goddaughter Sara and her husband Rob had a beautiful new
baby boy Andrew on April 17. Congratulations to
the Brookfields. We are so happy for you, and I
know Bobby will be a great big brother.
Margaret
and I are looking forward to our annual trip out
to Oregon soon to visit with Chris, Amanda, Alexa
and Cooper. Of course we will have pictures in our
next edition of the trip and all of our adventures
and mischief.
I
will be competing in the Gull Lake golf tournament
in May. This is the 33rd annual event held
each spring. I am looking forward to good weather,
spending time with some old friends, and possibly
putting together a couple good golf shots.
In May, we
celebrate Mother's Day, and in June, we celebrate Father's
Day. Being one of 8 kids, and the father of 3, I know just
how much Mom's and Dad's do for their kids. I am very
thankful that I had my Mom and Dad in my life. They both
taught me so much, and I still am using the lessons
learned and the examples of their unconditional love in my
everyday life. My final thought I leave you with is a
tribute to Moms everywhere. Enjoy!
A
MOM'S LOVE
A little boy came up to his mother in the kitchen one evening while she was fixing supper, and handed her a piece of paper that he had been writing on. After his Mom dried her hands on an apron, she read it, and this is what it said:
Well, his mother looked at him standing there, and the boy could see the memories flashing through her mind. She picked up the pen, turned over the paper he’d written on, and this is what she wrote:
When the boy finished reading what his mother had written, there were big tears in his eyes, and he looked straight at his mother and said, “Mom, I sure do love you.” And then he took the pen and in great big letters he wrote:
You will never truly know your parents worth until
you actually become one.
