Bradric Productions
and The McCarty Metro, held its' fourth McCarty Metro Film
Project. The event took place from June 22-28, 2015. The contest
was open to all. We looked for people get an idea of a film in
accordance with the rules that I posted on on June 22, then over
the next 7 days, they had to write, act, direct and produce a
short 4 minute or less movie and submit it by 11:59 pm Sunday June
28.
There were 4
rules... The concept had to be in the form of a news report. The
phrase "for the most part" had to be used at least 3
times in the video. A breakfast cereal box or breakfast food item
had to be shown in the video, and there had to be a sneeze, cough
burp or fart. These rules were posted at midnight on the first
day, and were created to ensure no videos were not shot beforehand
as all videos must abide by the rules.
.
.
.
I
received 8 videos for our contest this year. The films were judged
and critiqued by three motion picture directors from the
Director's Guild of America. The winner was decided on creativity, acting, direction,
productions, entertainment value, and how the contestants
incorporated the 4 rules. While hearing some good feedback
on all the submissions, I would like to announce this
years' winning video. "FALSE
EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL". Congratulations to
Patrick Tunison and Adam Liddicoatt on their winning
submission. What do you think? You can email your thoughts
to mccartymetro@gmail.com.
In case you
haven't seen them, or just want to watch them again...
ED
NOTE: I would like to thank ALL our film teams for their
submissions and their hard work. The films submitted were
all entertaining, and hopefully everyone had a good time. We look forward to
the 2016 Metro Film Contest.

MACKINAC, ISLAND GRAND HOTEL
In
early June, Kelly and Margaret had a wonderful weekend up on
Mackinac Island. The pair stayed at the Grand Hotel and had a lot
of fun. Two weeks later, Margaret returned to the Grand Hotel with
her lady friends Lee and Bev. The trio got bumped up to the
Presidential Suite which was very big and very beautiful.

BEND, OREGON
Later
in June, Kelly and Margaret traveled to Oregon to visit with
Chris, Amanda, Alexa and Cooper for a week. The weather was
awesome, and the visit was even more so. Over the week, we took
side trips to Mt. Hood, Sun River, the Deschutes River, saw Chris'
new office for 313consulting.com (which was in the old post office
which Margaret loved). The best times on the trip though, was
spending time with everyone. Alexa and Cooper were a joy, and they
enjoyed walking up to the park and playing on the toys every day,
and going swimming. Margaret is going to travel out again in
September.
Falls in
November and June. What a difference a few months make from
a blizzard to beautiful 80 degree temps.

WASHINGTON, D.C.
One
score and a few days ago, Luke McCarty's parents brought forth
their Hudsonville family on a new trip, conceived in historical
tourism, and dedicated to the proposition that all boys in Under
Armour T-shirts and those who are not are created equal. Luke
and sibs Mia and Brayden, and parents Ryan and Missy, and Grandma
Karen spent a few days seeing the White House, Washington Monument
and other sights in D.C. Then they went to Maryland to visit Andy
and Ann and their kids, Sam, Max and Gracie. Some even went
to an Orioles-Red Sox game. FYI: Presidential history buff Luke
knows what president had the biggest bath tub.

DATELINE: AUGUSTA,
MICHIGAN
In
25 previous attempts at Gull Lake's top prize, your Metro
editor, Kelly McCarty, finally got his name etched on the Gull
Lake Trophy and drove home from Augusta, Michigan with the
tournament's green jacket. The annual golf tournament was first
held in 1985, and over the years has had over 50 competitors
from the US and Canada. The golfers this year celebrated the
31st anniversary of the event. In winning, Kelly joins brothers
Rick McCarty (1985, 2002) and Dan McCarty (1986, 1993, 1994) as
tournament winners. During the week, Kelly won 15 skins and 3
greenies on his way to a wire to wire victory. He jumped out on
day one, and never trailed in the event. Frank Merriam (12
skins) and Mike Wiacek (8 skins) finished second and third.
Kelly, who has missed the previous 5 events says, "I feel
fortunate to have been invited back and to renew old friendships
and develop new ones with a great group of guys. It was a very
special 3 days for me."

Dear Editor:
My
apologies. In my rush to get my entry in the Metro Film
Contest, I made two errors in the credits. First, the
youngest member of the cast is Natalie Besselsen, not
Natalie McCarty. This grandfather/director extends his
sincere apologies to Natalie and her parents, Jon and
Jill. And I forgot to mention the McCarty Metro Film
Contest in the video. It's in the extended description
below, but what can I say? It's, uh, me. Sorry. And, by
the way, if this gins up sympathy votes for "Killer
Bee-hemoth vs. The Mysterious Stone Thrower," I
welcome them. -Mike
McCarty
ED
NOTE: Michael, Michael, Michael. I guess we know whose not
getting a present from the Besselsen clan this Christmas.
By the way, Natalie was the most convincing actor on set.
Also, since you went from playing 1 character in last
year's film
to playing 3 different characters in this movie, I can hardly wait
for our next film project where you play EVERY character
in the movie, just like Eddie Murphy or Flo from the
Progressive commercials.
We always want to hear your questions, comments, rants,
or editorials.
Just submit them anytime during the month to to mccartymetro@gmail.com
for inclusion in the next issue
