DATELINE: WEDDING
OF KEVIN AND STEPHANIE
Wedding bells
were ringing on Saturday, October 11th. Stephanie Harakas
and Kevin McCarty were joined together in Holy Matrimony at
the Planterra Conservatory in West Bloomfield, Michigan.
Family and friends were all gathered in the beautiful atrium
for the cermony and reception. A live band, open bar, and
great food accented an wonderful celebratory evening. All
the McCarty brothers were in attendance for the first time
in over 10 years. Also in attendance was Rick's former
Detroit Police partner Leo Stebbins and his lovely wife. It
was a wonderful evening and we wish Kevin and Stephanie many
years of love.

DATELINE: DETROIT,
MICHIGAN
On Sunday, October
19, following another successful Detroit Free Press/Talmer Bank Marathon, runners
are icing sore feet. About 27,000 people took part in Sunday’s event, unique because it’s one of the very few marathons around the world that crosses an international border twice. The race
started on Front St. in Detroit, made it’s way westward to the Ambassador Bridge before heading easterly through Windsor to the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel. This year, 5,503 people,
including Metro writer and son of the editor, Austin McCarty, ran the full 26.2mi (42km) marathon, while 14,195 ran the international half marathon which is 13.1mi (21km).
The Detroit Marathon completes Austin's second year of competive
running. The McCarty Metro would like to congratulate Austin on
his 2nd completed marathon.

DATELINE: COOPERSVILLE, MICHIGAN
Brady McCarty celebrated his fifth birthday aboard the Pumpkin Train. A packed, slow-moving train went from Coopersville to Marne, while a "scarecrow" and "giant pumpkin" and their helpers told jokes and sang songs. Brady's family and grandparents were among the passengers. When a perky helper told Brady he could pick a pumpkin afterward, he responded (patronizingly): "Woo-hoo!"

DATELINE:
ANN ARBOR MICHIGAN
Enduring a
lack-luster football season, and a controversy of playing
an injured QB, revolt against the Athletic Director David
Brandon made local and national news. The 'Fire Dave Brandon' rally
drew nearly 1,000 Michigan students and supporters. There were chants of "Down with Dave," "Fire Brandon" and "Hire Harbaugh"
as roughly 1,000 Michigan students and members of the university community converged on campus to protest U-M athletic director Dave Brandon and the department's mishandling of injuries sustained by quarterback Shane Morris.
One of the
main photos used on ABC and other local and national news
organizations had one of our own McCarty Metro
readers and niece of the Metro editor, Tina R, smack dab
in the middle of the protest. "She's got a nose for
news!" commented the Editor. You can
check out the MLIVE article with pictures and story at
from this link at MLIVE.com.

In other news from Tina, she
recently got a chance to meet the Back Street Boys.
