Hello Metro family and
friends! I'm glad you are back with us and I hope you are having a great summer so far.

Margaret and I had such a wonderful time on our
trip out to Oregon. Those grandkids are getting so big. Thank you Chris and Amanda for hosting us. Thank you to Cooper and Alexa for the great memories we had. We got to see Alexa's dance recital, and she did
MAGNIFICENT! She was in 5 separate dances, and one of those was
an emotional dance with her father Chris. ENCORE!!!
And
what an athlete Cooper is becoming. Not only did he
make the Bend All-Star Little League team in a higher
age class, but he also excelled hitting .667 in the
tournament. This is just 2 weeks after his Boss
Basketball team won the championship. He is truly an
amazing young man!

I am so proud of all 3 of my sons Austin, Brad, and Chris. They always make me feel appreciated and are always willing to help me when needed.
They are the best sons a guy could ask for. Now that they are
all dads themselves, I hope they enjoy the ride just as much as
I did. I was lucky to have m'lady with me every step of the way.
I love you Margaret. Our boys, along with Kristina, Val, and
Amanda, I know the kids (Teddy, Gray, Olivia, Cooper, and Alexa)
have excellent role models to look up to.
I am looking forward to
the McCarty Family Olympics coming up soon. It will be great for
most of us to get together and enjoy some friendly competition.
Finally, as a subscriber, be sure to keep an eye out for email updates over the next couple months about
the brand new season of the NFL Pigskin Pickem Game. If you are reading this and are not a subscriber, or if you know someone who might enjoy what we do here at the McCarty Metro, or sign them up to receive updates as a free subscriber.
My final thought this month is a true story about a little girl
and her dog. It is a wonderful life lesson.

Abbey
& Meredith
“Our
14-year-old dog Abbey died last month.
The
day after she passed away, my 4-year-old daughter
Meredith was crying and talking about how much she
missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter
to God, so that when Abbey got to heaven, God
would recognize her. I told her that I thought we
could, so she dictated these words:
We
put the letter in an envelope with a picture of
Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven.
We put our return address on it. Then Meredith
pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope
because she said it would take lots of stamps to
get the letter all the way to heaven.
That
afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at
the post office. A few days later, she asked if
God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I
thought He had.
Yesterday,
there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our
front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an
unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a
book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies.'
Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we
had written to God in its opened envelope. On the
opposite page was the picture of Abbey &
Meredith and this note:

Here's
to the 3 things
in human life that are important:
the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind;
and the third is to be kind.”
