Hello Metro Readers! Since the next edition will be coming out in December (our big Christmas issue), I want to wish you and yours have a safe Halloween and Thanksgiving. Stay safe out there in
McCarty Metroland!
October marks my
30th consecutive year as the editor of the McCarty Metro. After stints as the paper Metro editor in the 1960s and 70s, and producer of several video Metros in the 80s and 90s, I printed the first computer edition in October 1992. Thank you to all who have contributed over the years as well as all of you reading this. Without your support, this would not have grown so much over the years. I really appreciate all of you!

We are
really looking forward to November, and the wedding of my
son Austin and his beautiful bride-to-be Kristina. They
are honoring me with performing the ceremony, which I am
so proud to do. I am wishing them all the best, and cannot
wait for the nuptials and subsequent party with all of our
family and friends.
Margaret
and I took a trip on our 38th anniversary up to Lake
Superior this past month to try and see the northern
lights. We had a wonderful time, but no sightings.
McCarty Metro NFL Pigskin Pickem is back online for a
12th year. As of this writing, we have 38 players competing. It is simple to play, just pick the winners of 10 games that I put up each week. There's still time, so feel free to join us as it is a long season. Just go to the Pickem Page and make your picks for this week. This is really a fun way to keep the games and season exciting to watch.

Our annual McCarty Metro Las Vegas
(VBV18) trip is tentatively scheduled for January 11-15. Hopefully, things
are back to normal as far as COVID, and the casinos will be back
at 100%. If you are interested, just let me know, and I can keep you in the loop on the status of the trip. We always have a great time.
Finally, once again, thank you all for stopping by spending a few minutes with the family and me. I hope you enjoy each edition of the McCarty Metro as much as I enjoy bringing it to you. A reminder that Veterans Day is November 11, and in honor of it, I would like everyone to thank a military veteran either active or retired. Also, give thanks and say a prayer for those who are no longer with us. God bless all the men and women who have fought for the rights of everyone. They are all heroes.
My
final thought to you this month is the importance of giving and
receiving a smile every single day of your life! You may or may
not know the person, or what they are going through, but a smile
is something we all need. For me, whether it is m'lady, my kids,
my grandkids, my brothers, or even an elderly mall walker, I try
to give and get that smile. My brothers make me smile with their
texts during the week and also in the McCarty
Metro Chat Room every Sunday evening at 9pm right here on the
Metro. Hopefully, this publication puts a smile on your
face, and all of you could also put a smile on my face by making
submissions, sending articles, or dropping a comment below.
I leave you with this week is
not a story, but is actually just a title, photo, and
description which tells a lot. My challenge for you this month
is to put a smile on someone's face every day this month. Enjoy!

“MY
DAUGHTER WAITED FOR HER FAVORITE GARBAGE MAN TO
GIVE HIM A MUFFIN. IT HAPPENED TO BE HIS BIRTHDAY
AND HIS SMILE SAYS IT ALL”
This is too adorable and this little girl’s heart is too pure. She waits every Thursday for this garbage man for the chance to wave at him.
I guess that this garbage man will never forget her kindness. Not only is she bringing him joy, but he’s bringing her joy as well. What an awesome bond these two have.
