GINGERBREAD HOUSE CONTEST

This contest was the brainchild of Aunt Kristen. She sent gingerbread house kits to the nephews and nieces. They built their houses, took pictures, and sent them to the McCarty Metro for readers to vote on. There were many entries and lots of votes. Only 1 vote separated the top 3. Congrats and thank you to Kristen for a great fun addition to the Metro.

This is the 12th consecutive win for Jerry in the Best Writing category. He not only is one of our top submitters to the Metro, but Jerry also authors Jerry's World, Bob Hope Tweets From Heaven, Peanut & Jocko and appears weekly in the pod cast Rick's Martini Bar. Although battling cancer, Jerry has never missed a deadline. I just want to thank Jerry for all he does for the Metro and congratulations on this award!

NASHVILLE WEDDING OF LARRY & GINA

Gina and Larry held a five day Tennessee wedding celebration from September 1st through Labor Day the 5th that drew people from across the USA and even international. There were events planned every day, culminating with an awesome wedding at a movie theatre. The cocktail hour featured movie music and dance scenes on the big screen, followed by clips from Happy Hair Productions and a montage of Gina and Larry photos.  Kelly McCarty performed a heartfelt ceremony.  The reception highlights featured great food, three fun toasts, dancing, and karaoke.

COCKROACHES! ONE NIGHT ONLY!

In a February meeting, Jerry convinced Kelly to do a 1 night only final concert to celebrate Brad Savage & The Cockroaches 35th anniversary. All the former Cockroaches took part in a great show, in front of a packed house at the Three Blind Mice Irish Pub, and streamed live on Facebook. Brad Savage would like to thank his band, including Bob Dantzer on bass (and also choreographing the entire evening). Carl Roland who did a great job on the ivories, and kept the sound in check all night. Adam Allen on guitar who always does a phenomenal job. Lance Devous who is one of the finest drummers around. And of course, Eric Swan carried the night with his great vocals on all the songs. Also Eddie, Lake, Todd, Steve, Sarah, Kaitlyn for performing, the 3BM staff, and especially all the great Cockroach fans who came out to celebrate with us.

BRAD SAVAGE & THE COCKROACHES - 1 NIGHT ONLY

With all the hype and all the hoopla preceding the August 12th, Brad Savage & The Cockroaches One Night Only concert, the boys did not disappoint the sold out house at the Three Blind Mice Irish Pub. Playing all the old favorites from 35 years ago, along with new songs, and songs along the way, the evening was a smash success. The Cockroaches had all their original players, on stage to perform at various points of the night, culminating with everyone on stage for a "Saturday Matinee". The Cockroach reunion concert was broadcast live on Facebook that night for the world to see. It was then edited down, and rebroadcast on YouTube. Congratulations to Austin for the initial broadcast, Larry for the edited rebroadcast, and Jerry for all the work in editing the multiple camera footage for YouTube.

2016 LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

After 35 years, the rock band Brad Savage & The Cockroaches went out in style by rocking out one final time in front of a packed house at the Three Blind Mice Irish Pub in Mt. Clemens Michigan.

The group founded by Kelly & Jerry in 1981 went on to write hundreds of original songs, perform at live events, cut several records, do a soundtrack to a movie, shoot videos for YouTube, and finally this past year, write, produce and perform some of their best music ever over the past 35 years.

Brad Savage, Eric Swan, Bob Dantzer, Carl Rollin, Adam Allen, Lance Devous, along with former Cockroaches Lake Speed, Eddie Stein, Todd Rambo, Sweet Sarah and of course our manager for the past 35 years, Mr. Paul Stevens are proud to accept this Lifetime Achievement Award from the McCarty Metro and thank the readers and fans who voted.

There are some people who excel at just about everything, and some who work tirelessly to be the best that can be. When Dan McCarty passed away in 1996, brother Steve described DJ as "The Best Of The Best"! Since his passing, one person has made it his mission that Dan never be forgotten. Later that year, Steve McCarty set up a golf event called the Dan McCarty Golf Classic which has raised tons of money for charities, including the Lupus Foundation, MS Society, Cancer Research, and others. Steve also continued on by starting a winter annual event called the DMGC Texas Holdem Tournament also raising funds for charity. Seeing a need for help in the local area, Steve also helped start a new charity called UHY Cares! which helps many local causes. In all, Steve and his lovely wife Kristen and their family have raised millions for those in need. I am proud to honor my brother Steve McCarty, who truly is "The Best Of The Best" with this McCarty Metro Lifetime Achievement Award.
