DATELINE: ROYAL
OAK, MICHIGAN
The
9th Annual Dan McCarty Texas Holdem event was held on
Tuesday, February 23 at the Emagine Theater in Royal Oak,
Michigan. Organizer Steve McCarty reports that the event
drew nearly 180 guests and raised almost $30,000! Steve is
quoted as saying "We had great support from our sponsors and huge re-buys from our players. Usually people come to these events, make their donation, and leave. At the DMGC, we had a line of people that did not register and were waiting for a table spot to open. Plus we had people hanging out in the losers lounge networking and catching up with friends. It was a great event for UHY Cares, DMGC, and our community. We will
using the money raised to make donations to very worthwhile
causes in the Metro Detroit area."
ED
NOTE: Thanks Steve, Jessica, and the entire UHY Cares team,
along with the Emagine staff and the fabulous sponsors for
making this such a great event every year and making
everyone who attended feel like a VIP.

DATELINE: STERLING HEIGHTS,
MICHIGAN
During the month of
February,
Jerry McCarty made a quick visit out to Michigan, where he hooked
up with family, friends, and bandmates for a cocktail at Andiamo
restaurant in Sterling Heights. Some of the discussions turned to
a possible Brad Savage & The Cockroaches reunion concert this
summer to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the band. Little did
patrons in the Andiamo bar know that they would be treated that
night to
an impromptu "unplugged" concert by a couple of current
and former members of the Cockroaches that were present. Below is a video of
them
playing Bad Reputation shot by one of the lucky bar's customers
that night.
Sparing

Frank
M through some negotiations was able to save us some money to get
us a great deal on Gull Lake 2016. For those attending the
practice round on Tuesday, the 4 Day 3 Night senior package for
golf and lodging would be $402.47 plus skins. Those
not playing golf or spending the night on Tuesday the rate would
be less.
PLEASE
NOTE: New Gull Lake Policy in 2016: Guests wishing to rebook
for the next season will be required to place a full deposit prior
to departure. Furthermore, we will only be allowing one deposit
per reservation in 2016. Mike W will also need
to collect about $40 from each person this year to keep the
deposit on hand year after year.
IN OTHER GULL LAKE NEWS...
The
commission also states that newly acquired Stoatin
Brae, which will be opening up in the summer of 2016, will be part
of our 2017 Gull Lake trip. You can check

Dear Editor:
Kudos to Steve and UHY for putting on such a great poker event.
Everything was just awesome that evening from the comped
parking, the valet service, the check in process, the bar, the
food, the dealers, the tournament itself, all the way to the
losers lounge (which I spent most of my time). Congratulations
to them on doing such a great job. -Brad

AND
FINALLY.... DATELINE: PAYBACK
Mildred,
the church gossip, and self-appointed monitor of the church's
morals, kept sticking her nose into other people's business.
Several members did not approve of her extra-curricular
activities, but feared her enough to maintain their silence. She
made a mistake, however, when she accused George, a new member, of
being an alcoholic after she saw his old pickup parked in front of
the town's only bar one afternoon. She emphatically told George
(and several others) that everyone seeing it there would know what
he was doing. George, a man of few words, stared at her for a
moment and just turned and walked away. He didn't explain, defend,
or deny. He said nothing. Later that evening, George quietly
parked his pickup in front of Mildred's house... walked home...
and left it there all night.
