Roosevelt Jones, a duo featuring guitarist Mike McCarty and drummer Joe Lehman, will play three dates in the Holland Street Performer Series this summer. The downtown Holland series runs Thursdays, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., June 10-Aug. 30. Joe and Mike will play a variety of vintage blues, pop, country and more on July 5, July 12 and Aug. 9. C'mon and visit!
There are plenty of songs suitable for Father's Day, June 17, but I remember my dad listening to Shimmy Shimmy Koko Bop (Little Anthony and the Imperials) on the car radio. And he really enjoyed Yesterday, but Dad couldn't believe it when I told him it was by The Beatles.
Here are some famous oldies about fathers:
1. Oh, My Papa (Paul Anka)
2. My Heart Belongs to Daddy (Mary Martin)
3. Daddy Sang Bass (Johnny Cash)
4. My Dad (Paul Peterson)
5. Love Without End, Amen (George Strait)
6. My Best Friend (Harry Nilsson)
