Everybody's Irish
Everybody is Irish, at least on St. Patty's Day. This delicious whiskey cocktail blends smooth Irish whiskey with the minty flavor of crème de menthe liqueur and the herbs of Chartreuse. The recipe does call for an olive for the garnish, but if you're not hip to this idea and how it accents the crème de menthe, use a fresh sprig of mint.

Green Dublin Apple Cocktail
If you are looking for an "Appletini" with a little more luck 'o the Irish this is it. This sour martini begins with Michael Collins, one of the great Irish whiskies, and white cranberry juice and, for that pucker and green glow, a sour apple schnapps comes into the mix. Bright green, sweet, and sour, this is simple a fun cocktail.

Ingredients
2 oz Michael Collins Irish whiskey
1 oz sour apple schnapps
2 oz white cranberry juice

Preparation:
Add all three ingredients in a shaker.
Add ice, shake vigorously for 30 sec.
Strain into a chilled martini glass.
Garnish with a fresh apple slice.

You will find that the Emerald Isle is a minty gin cocktail is a perfect green drink for St. Patrick's Day parties, although I prefer the Caruso. A dash or two of bitters does help the drink considerably. While aromatic bitters are customary, I've found that mint bitters is an equally nice compliment and if you're feeling a little wild, orange bitters are quite interesting also.

Ingredients: 1 oz gin, 1 tsp green crème de menthe, 2 dashes bitters. Preparation: Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Shamrock Smoothie

If you are seeking a St. Patrick's Day sipper or an easy green drink that is both refreshing and intriguing, check out the Irish Tea Party. Sure, the Jameson Irish whiskey and green tea mix is great on its own and a nice alternative to similar drinks such as the Jameson and Ginger (without the carbonation), but it is the absinthe rinse that transforms this cocktail into something special. As this drink shows, sometimes it is the little things that make a world of difference.

The ingredients are 4 parts Sweetened Green Tea, 1 part Jameson Irish Whiskey, 1/2 part Pernod Absinthe, Lime slice for garnish. Preparation: Rinse rocks glass with Pernod Absinthe. Add ice. Pour Jameson over the ice. Add Green tea and garnish with lime.

Green Carnation
This is a really lovely Martini that is not overly sweet, nor overly fruity. The Green Carnation is a lot like the Greentini, it just adds lime juice and Benedictine, which contributes a dry, herbal aspect to the fruitiness of the rest of the drink. In keeping with the name, this cocktail is also green and is an ideal, well-balanced drink for any occasion where color matters.

The ingredients are: 2 oz vodka, 1/2 oz Midori melon liqueur, splash of Benedictine, splash of lime juice. Preparation: Shake the ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
