From
Amanda - Crazy week in early January for the Oregon McCartys! They had to take Cooper to the ER, which ended up with a late night surgery to remove his appendix. Thanks to COPA and St. Charles ER, OR, docs and peds team for taking great care of him! He said surgery was worth it because it got rid of that severe pain. He's sore but on the mend. Thank you to everyone who reached out with support!

Baby, Vegas!
The

city for their annual trip. In all, 8 people made
the trek, including McCartys Steve, Kelly, Larry,
Rick, Dennis, Austin, Brad, and brother from
another mother, Robert. There are a few photos on
the site, but all other records of the trip have
been locked in the vault under the legal precedent

Dear Editor: I want to go out and shovel all the snow that is piled up on my deck and driveway, but I live in a condo, and a company from the association is supposed to shovel. Do you think I can shovel anyway or will I be ostracized by my neighbors and maybe kicked out of my condo? WWBSD? (What would Brad Savage do?) -Cabin Fever Guy, Hudsonville, Michigan.
ED NOTE: Don't
ask Brad Savage. Rather, ask Lake Speed (WWLSD). Lake would
tell you to attach a snow shovel to the grill of your car,
and go to town. Brad Savage will then let you know what
repair shop in your area will fix your punctured radiator.
Dear Editor: Can you settle a bet? How did your band settle on "Cockroaches" as part of Brad Savage and the Cockroaches? I thought it was supposed to be Eric Swan and the Rock n' Roll Coaches, but a friend, who will remain nameless, says the original band was called The Eddie Stein Experience. Who is right?
-E.S., West Michigan
ED NOTE: Eric
did not want his name to be what we called the band, and
he actually suggested that I (Brad Savage) be the leader
of the band. As far as how we got the name, we decided by
chance. Eric and Brad agreed that we would choose a name
at random from the dictionary. We opened up a dictionary,
fanned the pages, plopped a finger on a page... And we
didn't want to be called Brad Savage & The Cocks, so
we moved it down to Cockroaches. As far as Eddie Stein,
last I heard, he was still looking for a cause he lost
back in the 60s.

Pasta
Fagioli in the Crockpot
Here is a
great set and forget soup recipe. Being in the cold days
of winter, there's nothing better than a great bowl of hot
pasta fagioli soup to warm you up. It's even better than
what they serve at Olive Garden. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
2 lbs. ground beef
1 onion, chopped
3 carrots, chopped
4 stalks celery, chopped
2 (28 oz) cans of diced tomatoes,
not drained
1 (16 oz) can red kidney beans
1 (16 oz) can white kidney beans
3 (10 oz) cans beef stock
3 tsp. oregano
2 tsp. pepper
5 tsp. parsley
1 tsp. Tabasco sauce (optional)
1 jar spaghetti sauce
8 oz. Ditalini or your favorite
hearty pasta
Directions:
.
Brown beef in a skillet. Drain fat from the beef
and add to crock pot with everything else except
the pasta. Cook on low 7-8 hours (or on high 4-5
hours). Add pasta the last 30 minutes. Serve
with a nice crisp green salad and enjoy some
garlic bread. Delicious!
