Well it’s June and that means that those little McCarty Grandbrats will be home from school on summer vacation. You can bet they will be plopped on the couch saying they are bored and they have nothing to do. I’d like to give those lazy leptons a swift kick in the Keester and see if then they have something to do. Just thinking about those Lazy Loafers makes me hotter than walking across my hot driveway in my bare feet. We had lots more fun during the summer when we were kids. . |
These kids today have to go to a Waterpark and spend $50 to go down a water slide. When we were kids, we had our own pool in the backyard. It was 3 ½ feet deep and my dad would put it on the hard brick patio, so if you dived into it, you’d get a closed head injury. That pool was made out of ¼ inch rolled steel we would put it up every summer and take it down in the fall. If you put your feet on one side, you could reach the other side of the pool with your arms. And if you wanted activities, you swam underwater to get rotten cherries off the bottom of the pool. Sure the sides would cave in every time someone jumped into it but we didn’t care, we loved it! Cause we were happy with what we had. | |
. And you can bet those roller coaster rejects will be going to Cedar Point Amusement Park. “Eww, I want to go down the Magnum roller coaster and scream like a little girl!!” Fiddle Fooey! When I was a kid, we made our own amusement. My dad would take us to run down hills. No admission fees, no lines to wait in, no uncomfortable safety harness….Just 8 boys running down a hill screaming like maniacs. Sure we looked like the Special “B” production of The Sound of Music, but we didn’t care, we loved it!! . |
| And those little Sleeping Bag slouches will be going camping “Up North”. They’ll be in their fancy schmancy tents with their all-weather, down filled, temperature controlled sleeping bags. When we were kids we camped out in the backyard by putting blankets over the clothes line and propping them up with clothes poles and rakes. We would get attacked by mosquitoes all night long and in the morning we would be laying in a dew soaked clump of blankets and rakes, but we didn’t care we loved it!! |
. So you spend this summer driving your kids all over kingdom come. As for me, I’m staying home and I’m gonna renovate my backyard. I’m putting in a 3 ½ foot above ground pool and a clothesline…….. No, I’m not a “Special B”!! | . |
