The Oscars were incredible. My friend Rick Farmiloe and I rode in a Limo courtesy of a special rate from Joe the Limo Guy. Along the road to the Kodak Theater were lots of protesters and people holding signs that said “Repent!!” “Shame on You!”, “Change Your Life Now”, Renounce Greed”. There were also a guy holding a sign that said “Let Me Sing Your Soundtrack – Stop for a Demo CD”. 

When we arrived at the Kodak Theater, as I stepped from the Limo onto the red carpet. Uma Thurman was right next to me. She turned smiled and said “hi” and then waved to the people in the bleachers. When someone shouted “Your dress looks beautiful, she turned to me”, “I hate it”.

Then, Nicole Kidman passed me on the red carpet looking like a total movie star. I walked next to her and watched as Ben Kingsley came up and talked to her. Also on the red carpet I saw Mario Van Peebles, Bill Murray, and Oprah Winfrey.

When we got into the Theatre we took our seats, watched the opening and then at the first commercial break went out to the Martini Bar in the lobby of the Kodak Theater where all drinks are free. Standing there at the bar drinking champagne was Julia Roberts. Rick, who will talk to anybody, went up and introduced himself. Julia Roberts seemed really nice and stayed for about a half an hour. Then when she left, Sean Connery came in and I knew we were going to stay in that bar and watch the entire show on the big screen TV. Throughout the night I met Holly Hunter, Julianne Moore, Sally Kirkland, and Chris Connelly from MTV. Rick talked to Sean Penn, Faye Dunaway, Elvis Costello, and many others. We \both shook hands with Harvey Wienstein, Sean Astin, and Elijah Wood. There were tons of other celebrities who we stood next to but didn’t introduce ourselves to like Bill Murray, Johnny Depp, Clint Eastwood, Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, Michael Douglas, Jude Law, and Elvis Costello.

Rick met some friends he had met last year and they invited us to the New Line Cinema (Lord of the Rings) Party at the Pacific Design Center. Since Lord of the Rings had won 11 Oscars we felt that was the place to go. We all piled into our limo and drove to the Pacific Design Center. The party was great with free food and free drinks plus cool goodie bags. We stayed there until about 12:30 PM and then headed home.
