OUR VACATION

These are a few pictures of our 2 week vacation through Canada and New England.  We had a lot of fun traveling as a family, and seeing many sites along the way. Besides what you see in the pictures, we visited the Ann Murray Museum and the Norman Rockwell Museum. We also got lost in Canada 6 times.  Oh yeah.... we also saw miles and miles and miles of HAY!!!

Enjoy... We sure did.

On the way to Prince Edward Island, the bug splattered windshield of the van-traveling, French-Canadian speaking McCartys stopped at the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, Canada. In this picture Brad and Austin pose on the ocean floor just minutes before the 10 foot tide covers entirely the space where the boys are standing. It is to be noted that Kelly stood on a large rock above holding out his staff and arms to keep the boys safe. (ok... No one here got the reference.... I'm like Moses and the Red Sea...)

To get on and off Prince Edward Island, we had to take North America's longest bridge. The Confederation Bridge is guaranteed to make you lose weight. Just by crossing it, we found ourselves $37 lighter!

West Point Lighthouse was the place where we stayed for our 3 days on the island.
Austin began to make sand castles on the beach.

He started to become very good at it

He finally began to become very compulsive, even to the point of torturing anyone who dare try to destroy his castles.

Starting out, a leisurely nature hike at dusk turned into a 1 mile mad dash out of the woods after swarms of West Nile Virus carrying mosquitoes attacked the McCarty group. Here, a puking Kelly makes it out alive only because he tripped a shocked Margaret and pushed his 2 unsuspecting children into the swampy water.

Don't worry, they all made it out alive.... They were stung a lot, BUT, are now a little wiser.

After 3 days on PEI, we spent 4 days in Bar Harbor Maine. Here, the boys are seeing just how scared they can make us by going right to the edge of some rocky cliffs over the ocean.
Margaret, Brad and Austin decide to take some quadricycles out to tour the wilderness, and maybe catch a glimpse of Bullwinkle (Boinkle) the Moose.  Dad decided to stay at the hotel and sit by the pool because he knows...

What goes down.....

.....Must come up

After Maine, there was 4 wonderful, relaxing days at Margaret's brothers' cottage outside of Gloucester, Massachusetts. Here, we step off the porch and decide to take some water craft out into the ocean.  Austin and his Uncle Chuck choose the 2-man red kayak.

Brad chooses the single blue kayak.

And Kelly takes the old... trusty... but safe... leaky raft.
