| DAN McCARTY GOLF CLASSIC Daniel J. McCarty August 4, 1955 - May 25, 1996 "The Best Of The Best"
| Over the years we have told you a little bit about DJ. To many of us, DJ was our friend, our boss, our golf instructor, our baseball coach, our brother. If you did not know DJ, look around to see the many lives that he influenced, and we hope that you begin to feel like you know him. We always like to hear the stories and memories you have of DJ. He is truly missed.
The main reason we have this event is to honor our brother. Danny would be both amazed and humbled to see everyone who came to golf. From our first year with 48 guys golfing in sleet, to our fourth consecutive sell-out of 132 golfers, this outing has become an incredible tribute to a great man and an extremely charitable one. The past five years have generated over $20,000 in donations to the Lupus Foundation, the Kidney Foundation and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. The proceeds of today's event will again benefit the Michigan Lupus Foundation in search of a cure.
From all of us McCartys, we thank you for remembering DJ and keeping his wonderful spirit alive in our hearts and on the golf course.

An old Irishman once told me... "Never leave an Irishman in mid-drink - You might miss the inspiration"
Danny Boy...
Oh Danny Boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side The summer's gone, and all the roses falling 'Tis you must go, 'tis you must go and I must bide
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow 'Tis I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so
But if you come, and all the flowers are dying If I am dead, as dead I may well be You'll come and find the place where I am lying And kneel and say and "ave" there for me
And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me And all my grave shall warm and sweeter be If you will bend and tell me that YOU love me Then I will sleep in peace until you come to me
Wherever you go and whatever you do, May the luck of the Irish be there with you. Continue Reading | |
