MENTAL STRUMMIN'
& PICKIN' IN ROME

I crashed on the bed our first night in Italy , and daydreamed of playing “ San Francisco Bay Blues” and “Salty  Dog.”

SEEN & HEARD IN ITALY

Karen and I returned from a terrific trip to Italy last month. I didn’t see any Italian banjo players, but a music store in Florence did carry a banjo in its glass display cases. It had the Tennessee brand. In Florence, we also saw posters for a Dec. 5 concert by a guitar duo. The one on the right was showing his Taylor guitar prominently.

We also went to a classical concert in Venice, but I nearly clapped out of turn, which I understand now is a faux pas. The concert was called Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons,” but I was disappointed when they didn’t do “Sherry” or “Walk Like a Man.”
