All Right Kids...
Your Metro Editor Answers All The Tough Questions About Christmas

Q: If Santa doesn't have to age, then why has he become old?
A: He only appears to be old. He's an undercover kid.

Q: How can a sleigh possibly fly through the air?
A: If you were being pulled by eight flying reindeer, wouldn't you fly too?

Q: How many gifts can Santa Claus's bag hold?
A: One less than infinity. Why one less? Cuz there's a limit to everything.

Q: Is there really a Mrs. Santa Claus?
A: The best way to know is to ask Santa Claus next time you see him.

Q: Why do we hear so many bells at Christmas time?
A: Because so many people ring them.

Q: Why is a tree that's been chopped down called a "live Christmas tree?"
A: It's dead but doesn't know it, and yet it's having the time of its life.

Q: Why do we wrap our Christmas gifts with paper?
A: Because we like to see surprise and joy in the recipients.

Q: Why do we wish people a "Merry Christmas" instead of a "Happy Christmas"?
A: The two are about the same, but with "Merry Christmas" an extra twinkle is seen in the eyes.

Q: How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?
A: Nowadays, only four angels can dance there. Formerly there was no limit, but OSHA passed the Angel Safety Law recently, which also requires that the pin must be inspected twice each year for structural defects.

Q: How could a star that is high in the sky lead the Wise Men to a tiny manger on the ground?
A: Wisely, toward the end of their journey they asked directions from someone on the road. Had they not been so wise, they might have missed the manger by several hundred miles. (That person on the road has never been identified.)

A Message From The Craft Lady... May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Christmas dinner
Stay off your thighs!

SNOWMAN ORNAMENT
.

WHAT YOU NEED
.
Clear tree ornament, glass balls
Crinkled and shredded white paper
Small Pom Pom's
Chenille
Flannel, different colors
Tacky Glue
Ribbon
Hot melt glue

Here's a fun little project that the whole family can participate in. Make a bunch of snowman ornaments and your tree will be beautiful!

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO...

If you have a paper crinkler, crinkle the paper then shred. If not cut the paper into small 1/8" strips. Cut the strips into 1" to 2" lengths.
Remove the top from the ornament and stuff the shredded paper into the clear ornament making it look like snow. Use a pencil to shove the paper into the ball, sometimes the glass edge is broken.
Replace the hanger top.
Cut out the eyes and mouth from black felt.
Cut out the carrot nose from orange felt.
Glue these onto the ornament to make a cute face using tacky glue.
Glue a pom pom on each side of the head to cover the ears with hot melt glue.
Cut a piece of chenille to go from the top of one ear muff to the other with hot glue.
Glue the chenille in place.
Cut a scarf from felt to go around the bottom of the ornament. Cut slits into the ends to make it look like the fringe on a scarf.
Glue the scarf onto the bottom of the ornament using hot melt glue.
Tie a ribbon through the hanger top to hang it on the tree.

SANTA CLAUS COOKIES

Invite Saint Nick to make a cameo appearance in your holiday cookie baking this season.

Cut out sugar cookie dough using a heart-shaped cookie cutter and bake according to the package or recipe directions.

Once they have cooled, turn each heart upside down and frost the two rounded parts with white icing. Then top with shredded coconut to create Santa's beard and sideburns. Use red decorating gel to turn the point of the heart into Santa's hat and add more coconut for the trim. Add mini chocolate chip eyes and a red gel nose, and you've got yourself one jolly old elf.
